In a nutshell, you can do a great deal. What we don’t want you to do is sit at home tut-tutting saying “somebody” should be doing something. Well, you are that somebody! Here are some ways you can help out:
- The DECC website has some information on checking your load and using toad super traps, but organising regular pickups in your area and getting your friends involved is a great start.
- Report positive toad sightings to firstname.lastname@example.org , especially in areas where they have not been seen before. It has been shown that early intervention on new outbreaks can greatly reduce spread and even eliminate a small outbreak.
- Join the CIA and come out with us on organised night hunts. We usually go out on a Friday night and it is great fun!
- Buy some cane toad leather from the CIA to support our collection efforts. All profits go directly back in to the cane toad efforts in the Clarence Valley.
So yes, you can make a difference!
